Barclay Player of Year
Wake tailback wins ACC honors

Barclay top ACC rusher three times.

Players from losing teams rarely get this type of award. That is part of what makes Chris Barclay so special.
The Wake Forest tailback was chosen the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday in an exceedingly close vote, becoming the fourth player in school history to win the award.

Barclay received 17 votes from the members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association to edge Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick (16) and Maryland linebacker D'Qwell Jackson (15). Jackson, who led the ACC and finished second in Division I-A with nearly 14 tackles a game, got the nod as Defensive Player of the Year.

Barclay, also was chosen Offensive Player of the Year after rallying to top 1,000 yards and lead the conference in rushing during the regular season for the third straight season.
He finished his career as the all-time leading rusher for the Demon Deacons, and while Wake Forest stumbled a bit to 4-7, Barclay ran for 1,127 yards. He kept grinding until the final game, when he got 105 yards on 27 carries against Miami.
