The Middle Eastern Province will give each of these awards annually.

Please note the requirements for each award:

 

1. THE LEON W. STEWARD AWARD

 

An award to be presented at each Grand Chapter meeting to the most outstanding member of a Guide Right Program, named in honor of the founder of the National Guide Right movement of Kappa Alpha Psi. It is expected that each province shall submit its nominee for consideration no later than two weeks after its province meeting, and that the final decision will be made by the Guide Right Commission from the list of province nominees. Further, it is to be noted that it is D-Q! a requirement for the nominee to be a part of the Student of the Year Competition.

 

This award will be presented based on point accumulation in the following categories.

 

§         High School Activities

§         Honors

§         Community Involvement

§         Demonstrated Leadership

 

 2. THE BERT V. W ADKINS AWARD

 

An award to be presented at each Grand Chapter meeting to the most outstanding Alumni Guide Right advisor or director, named in honor of Diggs Laureate Bert V. Wadkins who successfully guided the Guide Right program in Oklahoma City for a period of 50 years (1937-87). It is expected that each province shall submit its nominee for consideration no later than two weeks after its province meeting, and that the final decision will be made by the Guide Right Commission from the list of province nominees.

 

 This award will be presented based on point accumulation in the following categories.

 

§         Education

§         Community/Non Fraternity Involvement

§         Fraternity Involvement

§         Kappa League Involvement and Activities

 

3. THE JAY CROSBY AWARD

 

An award to be presented at each Grand Chapter meeting to the most outstanding Guide Right program, named in honor of Diggs Laureate Jay Crosby, who served as founder and mentor of the Dayton Kappa League program. It is expected that each province shall submit its nominee for consideration no later than two weeks after its province meeting, and that the final decision will be made by the Guide Right Commission from the list of province nominees.

 

This award will be presented based on point accumulation in the following categories.

 

§         Activities of the Kappa League during the current year

§         Contribution of Chapter Member to Guide Right Program

§         Kappa League Involvement at Province and National Level

§         Creative and Innovative Programs

 

4. THE MEL L. DAVIS AWARD

 

An award to be presented at each Grand Chapter meeting to the most outstanding Undergraduate Guide Right advisor or director, named in honor of Past Journal Editor Mel L. Davis who successfully along with Elder Watson Diggs Awardee, Edgar H. Bishop, founded the Kappa Instructional Leadership League. It is expected that each province shall submit its nominee for consideration no later than two weeks after its province meeting, and that the final decision will be made by the Guide Right Commission from the list of province nominees.

 

This award will be presented based on point accumulation in the following categories.

 

§         GPA

§         Fraternity Involvement

§         Community Involvement

§         Kappa League Involvement and Activities

 


 

 

NATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC

Middle Eastern Province Outstanding Student Scholarship Award

 

 

This award will be presented to an undergraduate Chapter member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.  Funding for this award will be provided by the Kappa Alpha Psi National Foundation.  These funds will be used for scholarship only. 

 

Listed below are the criteria to apply for this award:

 

  1. Nominee shall be an undergraduate in good standing with the school he attends and has advanced past the freshman class.
  2. Nominee shal1 have a grade point average of at least 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.   (Provide a certified transcript from your college or university)
  3. Shall be financially active with his local chapter, Middle Eastern Province, and Grand Chapter. He shall be an active member with his chapter. (Province a copy of your current Grand Chapter financial card)
  4. Nominee shall write a one page theme on “WHY THE SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE BENEFICAL TO MY EDUCATIONAL ASPIRATIONS”.
  5. List activities participated in with your chapter for Guide Right.
  6. Winner can only received the scholarship one time only.
  7. Provide a letter from your Advisor nominating you for the scholarship.
  8. Provide a letter of recommendation from a school official (Dean or Vice President for Academic or Student Affair)
