The Kappa Foundation of Cary (KFOC) making an impact in SW Louisiana

With several brothers in The Cary (NC) Alumni Chapter hailing from the state of Louisiana and having family and friends still residing in the area, the KFOC did not hesitate to support the community as they continue to rebuild from the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Laura and Delta.

KFOC achieved its goal to raise enough funds to help 90-100 young people realize some level or Christmas Spirit given the trauma they’ve endured and continue to live with given the pandemic. In doing so, KFOC provided Walmart gift cards to single mothers in Dequincy who have children that range in ages from 3 to 16, teenagers in and around Lake Charles whose parents are struggling to make ends meet and college students who have also been either displaced and/or negatively impacted by the storms and the pandemic. Many of the recipients were identified through the Giving Tree of Southwest Louisiana.

The effort was led by Cary brothers Jeffrey Moore and Stephon Walton, both Louisiana natives and Southern University graduates, in conjunction with ground leaders, Dedria Walton a member of the local chapter of Zeta Phi Beta and Ryan Preatto the Polemarch of the Lake Charles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi.
