Wilmington (NC) Alumni Chapter Virtual Walk-A-Thon scholarship drive.

Every year more than 600,000 Americans die from heart disease. The number one cause of deaths for most groups, heart disease affects all ages, genders, and ethnicities. Risk factors include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, excessive alcohol use and obesity. African Americans have higher rates of these risks and other medical conditions. Many of these conditions have been linked with more severe COVID-19 infections and poorer outcomes because individuals with chronic disease have compromised immune systems and are more susceptible to infections.

The Brothers of Wilmington (NC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi are having a Kappa Stroll event, starting February 22nd– March 22nd, in recognition of Healthy Heart Month and Men’s Health. Participate in this fun event with us by sponsoring a Brother of the Chapter or making a donation. Sponsor a Brother by donating $19.11 when he completes 2,500 steps in a week. Check out our Facebook, Instagram page, or CashApp to also make a donation toward this effort. Funds raised from this event will benefit our annual scholarship for graduating high school males who are planning to further their education at a four-year college or university.
